Author Ha

Eight years a magazine editor, now an independent letter curator.

Ikseon-dong studio / fountain pen, ink, letter paper, pressed petals

I started in 2015 as a lifestyle-magazine editor. For eight years I wrote every month, and every month I watched paper disappear. Digital is faster and closer, yet sometimes it felt farther away.

In spring 2023 a handwritten letter arrived in my mailbox — from a friend traveling in Japan. That one letter sat on my desk for days. That settled it: one letter a month, sending paper to someone, as a job.

This is a one-person company. One author writes one letter each month by hand, including the recipient address on the envelope. The number that can be sent each month is limited — beyond that I cannot accept. My apologies.

A short 8-page zine for the month goes in with each letter. Some months about one book, some about neighborhood walks, some just about a feeling.

Frequently asked

The six things asked most before subscribing.

Yes — a real paper handwritten letter in a postal envelope, sent through the post office. Standard post (3-5 days) or registered (1-2 days, +KRW 1,200/letter). The author takes them to the post office in person on the third Wednesday each month.
Yes — a gift subscription. Enter another person’s name/address in the “recipient” field of the form below. The subscriber pays; the recipient receives.
Yes. Overseas shipping is +KRW 3,000/letter and takes about 7-14 days. We have sent to Japan, the US, Europe and Southeast Asia. For very remote areas, please ask first.
If a send is delayed for the author’s reasons, choose a 100% refund or automatic extension to the next month. External causes (wrong address, postal loss) can be traced and re-sent only for registered-post subscribers.
1-month plan is kraft by default / 3-month plan is the one envelope you chose / 6- and 12-month plans auto-rotate six (kraft, cream, linen, indigo, brick, gold). The 12-month plan’s last month is antique gold + wax seal only.
Yes — one author writes every letter by hand each month, including the address on the envelope. That is why the monthly count is limited to one person. The script is natural rather than formal; if legibility worries you, see the curated themes in the archive above.
