Around 4 AM yesterday. The Jamsu Bridge walkway. First time at the Han River at this hour, and there really was no one.
About 30 minutes in, fog started settling over the river, and I watched for a long time as the streetlights touched it and bled yellow. A view I’d normally just walk past — but with no one around, it felt that much longer.
I sat a while and watched the river; a small boat sat far off. People work even at dawn, I thought. The people I passed on the road at that hour — the street-cleaning crew, a taxi driver out for a smoke, someone cycling to work — all of them on their way to their own work.
On the way back I grabbed a warm canned coffee from a convenience store and kept walking; every sip showed steam. A small thing, but I liked it.
I’ll try to go again next week if I have time. If anyone goes to the river at dawn, recommend a good spot.
