We make photos you want to keep looking at, not perfect ones. The way an old digicam falls short ends up looking a lot like how people actually see.

About

I’m a Y2K digicam photographer in my seventh year. After five years as a magazine staff photographer, I opened a small studio in a Euljiro alley in 2023. These days I meet about thirty students a month.

I love the “beauty of falling short” that early-2000s digital cameras make — the low resolution, the off colors, the imprecise exposure. Photos you look at longer because they aren’t perfect.

In class we pass through the whole flow together, from holding the body to printing. The camera is only a tool; what stays is what you chose to photograph.

Y2K class process

01TouchA tour of the six categories with shutter, exposure, and ISO basics — starting from how the body feels in hand.
02ShootThirty-minute shoots by subject — portrait, scenery, alley, everyday — indoors and out. CF cards collected after.
03ReviewBack at the studio, preview the shots on a PC with one-on-one feedback from the teacher.
04PrintAfter a Y2K-tone pass, one print goes home with you. Extra prints or grading can be arranged.

Good photos don’t come from good cameras. They come from a camera you’ve gotten used to. Shoot an old digicam for just a month. Once it fits your hand, that’s when it actually begins.

How it runs

CRULE 01

Classes

Four to six seats. Materials, camera use, and one print are included. The subject can change if most of the class agrees.

RRULE 02

Rentals

Studio pickup and return only. A deposit of KRW 50,000–150,000 by category, returned within three business days after inspection.

* Late fee per day
XRULE 03

Cancellation

100% seven days before a class, 50% three days before, none on the day. Free rental cancellation up to 24 hours before start.

* Full refund if the teacher cancels

Your Work

Gallery posting needs your consent. Copyright stays with you; the teacher does not reuse it, and a link credit goes with anything you allow.

Frequently asked

Class, rental, cameras, your work, and more — six in all.

The Digicam Basics class is built for first-timers: a tour of the six categories, basic handling, and a 30-minute outdoor shoot. Camera, materials, and one print are all included for KRW 60,000. Afterwards you pick the next class around whatever category clicked for you.
That is exactly the point. Low resolution, grain, and color shift are the lo-fi look itself. The class works that tone through framing, retouching, and printing. The Film-tone Lo-fi class is the one to try.
Yes. Choose a category and period in the rental section, then switch to the rental track in the form. Pickup and return are at the studio only. A deposit of KRW 50,000–150,000 by category is held and returned within three business days after inspection.
Only with your consent. After class you send the photos, the teacher curates a selection, asks for your okay, then posts it. Copyright stays entirely with you, and anything is removed within 24 hours if you withdraw consent.
These are aged cameras, so normal wear never touches your deposit. Damage from user fault — a drop, water — is settled by repair cost or deposit after inspection and a chat. If one fails during normal use, call the studio and you get a replacement.
Classes seat four to six, and once you have four or more, a separate schedule can be arranged. Use the group track in the form to note headcount and the class type you want. A reply comes within three business days.
